Whose The Next Target?; Miccoli rejects transfer so who next?

So Fab Miccoli has rejected us in favour of staying at Palermo. Fair enough, he's the club captain and they worship him. I though he might be tempted by the Premier League, but I can see why he wouldn't leave a cushty position like he's in now and risk it in the prem.

So onto new business, we still need a goalscorer so who will be next on Big Eck's radar?

Yep!
I saw that reported a few weeks back....
But he said that he wouldn't talk to anyone until after the World Cup....
For him that should be next week then....
And I don't think that his value increased during the campaign either :( or even maybe :) dependent on how good he really is - cos I don't really know.... :break:

A pal of mine who lives in italy phoned me today and said its in a couple of sports papers over there that now the miccoli deal is dead blues are looking to bring mauro zarate beck to the club from lazio, apparently he's really unhappy there. There is a 19mill euro escape clause in his contract but it says blues are trying to organise an initial loan with a view to a permanent transfer at a later date and the player himself would welcome the move. Could be just paper talk mind, as my mate said there is a lot of football column inches to fill in italy.

lacks a touch of pace i know but his first touch is class and we all know he can finish, just depends on how much harry wants for him!

if motivated he WILL score 15+ a season, safest bet for us imo and will take us up a level in class , little steps and all that

Zarate wont come back here! If he was to leave Lazio he'd have his pick of Europe's best... so why would he come back to us on loan when he openly criticised his experience here when he left? Saying how he didnt like the physical side of the English game, and didnt play enough.

I'd say go in with a £6m offer for Robbie Keane.

I think they'd want closer to £12m for him.

About £5m too much in my opinion.

But clubs won't be paying £10m+ for Robbie Keane plus his wages and his age.

I've had a quick search on T'internet and can find no references to Birmingham and Zarate over the last 24 hours.

I did find some references to us and Mauro Boselli though from last night. Could just be his agent spouting off again as the Wigan deal seems to be taking ages.

The Argentinian striker Mauro Boselli dell'Estudiantes is increasingly going to move to the Premier League to Birmingham City. According to the British press, the English club, who in recent weeks has persistently pursued (unsuccessfully) the captain of Palermo Fabrizio Miccoli, close disburse approximately 8 million euros for the player, long a target also of Sunderland and Blackburn. The reports calciomercato.it

His buy out clause is supposed to be €60m ... €19m is what they paid for him.

As Mikael said, I'd be suprised if he'd entertain a move back here and he said some pretty damning things about McLeish when he left.

He's exactly the type of player McLeish is after though, so if there was a chance of getting him I'm sure he'd be looking in to it.

I dont think Pav is the sort of striker McLeish is looking at bringing in now.

He's looking for a more dynamic, nippier, littler forward to play off the knockdowns etc from Zigic.

Pav wouldnt fit into that category, like names such as Miccoli, Zarate do.

I dont for one minute think Zarate will be back, and Miccoli's confirmed he wont be coming in either... so we're going to have to move on and look for other players in that sort of mould.

The likes of Mauro Boselli may well come back into consideration... I think Landon Donovan would be a good addition up top too, but if he goes anywhere, it'll likely be to Everton I think.

Im just trying to personally think of names that would consider us, and I cant really think of many at the moment other than Boselli, Bojinov, Donovan possibly and maybe renewed bids for people like Mbokani, Ibisevic, Obasi?

Gonzalo Higuain looks good though ;)

I cannot believe we haven't looked at Kevin Gameiro.

23, young, quick, clinical in front of goal, runs at defenders. Would be perfect alongside a big man like Zigic.

 :Blues:

Where do we go now an interesting question.

Our scouts have it all to do now trying to sieve through the names they invarably have on their list.

I just hope we always have a plan b so that we are not left with nothing but dead beat last minute signing.

I am leaning to Babel as the next signing I have this feeling that Liverpool will do business.

If we could have some proof that he's over the worst of his injury worries, then I'm right behind you!
